Three decades in the making the Phoenix IV telescope is culmination of work from multiple universities and astronomical organizations. Each telescope is made with a specifically angled hard fixed equatorial mount for its expected latitude of operation. This cleverly turns active star tracking into a one dimensional problem.
Our customer came with a partially completed 3D printable model derived from their CAD. We worked with our client and provided feedback as we worked together to create an optimized 3D printable model and also introduced articulation into the critical joints just like the real telescope. A number of models were produced to be used as sales models, display pieces, and given to key contributors.
